More Art of Robert Burns

Hilary Bell (soprano), Campbell Russell (tenor), Geoff Davidson (baritone), Bonnie Rideout (violin), Jadwiga Kotnowska (flute), Kevin McCrae (cello), Jeremy Barlow (harpsichord); artistic director: David Johnson
This CD is the second collection of Burns songs from The Muusicians of Edinburgh, following Scotstown’s 2003 disc The Art of Robert Burns. It explores some of the lesser known songs (both solo and ensemble) of Scotland’s greatest poet, but also includes such perennial favourites as “The de’il’s awa wi’ th’Exciseman”, “Hei tuti teti”, “Ca’ the yowes”, “Flow gently, sweet Afton” and “O my luve’s like a red, red rose”. There are 13 purely instrumental tracks including music by John Clerk of Penicuik, William McGibbon, Earl of Kelly, James Oswald and General John Reid. This is an authentic representation of the music, such that Burns himself would have recognised and approved.
Compact Disk in jewel case: 36 tracks. Running time 65:54 mins.
