This is the first of 'Six Duetts for a Violin and Violoncello' op. 2 (London [1774]). Schetky was born in Darmstadt and emigrated to Britain, settling in Edinburgh at the age of 34. He married a young artist, Mary Reinagle, and later on became a close friend of Robert Burns. He had a prominent career as a cellist and composer.
